For the Next Generation of Agriculturalists

The Orange County Farm Bureau is committed to helping the next generation of agriculturalists and immediate family members of current agriculture workers reach their educational goals.

Each year, scholarships are awarded to individual Orange County students based on merit. Primary criteria for awards are eligibility, educational goals, financial need, grades, and written expression.

Applicant Eligibility:

All applicants must be a permanent resident of Orange County and fit within at least ONE of the following criteria:

  

  1. Pursuing Agricultural Higher Education:
    Any student entering or attending a two-year or four-year college or university or trade school while pursuing a course of study in agriculture, horticulture, or a closely related field is eligible. Membership in the Orange County Farm Bureau is not required for this eligibility category.
     

  2. OCFB Membership or relation to a member
    Orange County Farm Bureau business members and their employees and employee immediate family members are eligible. Course of study in agriculture or horticulture is not required for this eligibility category.

Scholarship Information:

Scholarship amounts range from $500 to $5,000. Funds awarded must be applied to the current or next immediate academic year. Each student awarded a scholarship will be notified by mail.

​

Scholarship awards will be based on information provided in the completed application form. Previous applicants and former scholarship recipients may re-apply in future years by submitting an updated application, transcript, and recommendations.

​

Scholarship funds will be deposited at the educational institution in the recipient’s name and applied by that institution to the student’s expenses.

Required Application Documents:

  1. Application Form
    The application form gathers information on your educational background or work experience, as well as an essay section about your career goals and educational path.
     

  2. Transcript
    We require a transcript of grades from your most recent school. Grade point average must be calculated to a 4.0 scale. PDF, digital scan, or printed photocopies are acceptable.
     

  3. Recommendation Form
    The Recommendation Form must be filled out by a teacher/academic advisor at your school, OR a past or current employer, OR a community service organization leader, evaluating you as a student/worker in terms of attitude, initiative, and dependability.

3 Ways to Submit Your Documents:

1. Online (Preferred Method)
You can fill out your application online, upload a copy of your transcripts, and then send the following URL link to your recommender so that they can fill out the recommendation online: www.ocfarmbureau.org/recommendation

2. Download and Send Via Email

You may download the fillable PDF for the Application Form and the Recommendation Form, fill them out in Adobe Acrobat, and then email them along with a digital copy of your transcripts to ocfb@sbcglobal.net.

3. Download, Print, and Mail

You may download the Application Form and the Recommendation Form, print them at home, fill them out in pen, and then mail them to us along with a printed copy of your transcripts. Our mailing address is

Applications may be submitted throughout the year. The OCFB Scholarship Committee will review applications and make award determinations on a schedule set by the committee.
